Seen on the street - Friday 26th

From early Friday morning the streets thronged with riders, and the bikes roared into town to meet up with H.O.G. friends from around the country. The weather was perfect and a full moon lit up the beach stage for the evening entertainment. Bill Davidson met up with local enthusiasts who celebrated H-D's 110th Anniversary.

Just over 110 000 people attended the event over the 3 days, and 3 242 bikes took part in the Mass Ride from Shelly Centre to Margate....

Brand new riders at Africa Bike Week 2013

Over 100 new riders learned to ride a Harley-Davidson for the first time at Africa Bike Week 2013! This was a "test-run" for H-D's new Learn-to-Ride academy.

67 novice riders were on the K53 range
45 were pillion riders
12 have never been on a bike
10 rode a bike years ago
88 people had a go on the Jump Start

Africa Bike Week 2013 - Mass ride

A thundering 3 242 bikes took part in the Mass ride from Shelly Centre to Margate via a scenic drive through several KwaZulu Natal coastal towns. There were bikes of every size, shape and colour imaginable, with acres of chrome, all polished to within an inch of their lives, brought there by riders from every part of Southern Africa. The sky's the limit for ABW 2013

Steve at Airserv Aerial Photograph flew down south to the biggest annual gathering of motor cycles in S.A. "We had the privilege of taking in the massed ride from an aerial perspective and Oh my Soul! This must be the closest that KZN gets to staging a dinkum mardi gras, with the marquees, bunting, flags, banners and a 24/7 party. Africa Bike Week™ 2013 -celebrates 110 years of freedom!

110 000 people got to enjoy the biggest biking event in Africa at Africa Bike Week 2013!

William J. “Bill” Davidson, Vice President of the Harley-Davidson Museum and great-grandson of founder William A. Davidson kicked off the 110th Anniversary Celebration at Africa Bike Week, welcoming visitors to the Biking event of the year.

South Africa's premier biking event will continue to take place in Margate, and ABW 2014 and ABW 2015 are already in the planning stages. The 4 major partners are thrilled with the response to the event, which grows every year. They believe there is just no better location than the KZN Sunshine Coast around Easter!

The organisers would like to thank local residents and venues for their support and enthusiasm. It isn't easy to be inundated with 110 000 visitors, and make every one of them feel welcome!
